50 Years of Boating
Fred’s passion for boating developed when he was in his late 20’s and continues to this day. He started with sailboats and he spent his time boating around the UK coastal waters and later in the Mediterranean. He changed to motor yachts when he met Khun Vrit at Boat Lagoon Yachting, Princess yachts distributor in 2004. Since that time he has purchased a new boat on average every year.
He maintains motor yachts are far more suitable for this part of the world and since 2004, he has dealt exclusively with Boat Lagoon Yachting.
He believes that Princess Yachts are built to the very highest standards in the industry. He pointed out that it is not just the quality of the boat that is important but the maintenance and service back up is equally as important. For the past 18 years he says that he has always received excellent service from the whole team who have now become good friends and would not contemplate using any other dealer.
“It is always exciting to buy a new boat and it has made financial sense for me to regularly change my boat. In this way you don’t suffer a large depreciation and you are able to keep up with the latest designs and technology. And of course you always benefit from an ongoing factory warranty.
Adventure
Fred enjoys the challenge of driving the boat himself. Every passage is a unique experience. The ownership of a boat allows him and his family complete freedom and nowadays more and more people are also looking to avoid crowds and busy hotels so being in the open sea with lots of fresh air is perfect. There is no need to worry about flights or hotel booking etc. and you have the luxury home with the flexibility to choose any destination.
Princess Y78, The Perfect Yacht
Princess Yachts are known for their excellent craftsmanship and innovative designs that incorporate performance, efficiency, comfort, and style. Fred has said that the Princess Y78 is an ideal boat for his needs
“Eighty feet is a great size for a boat. Although I really liked the layout of the old Princess 62 and Princess 72 models, the Princess Y78 is a larger evolution of those boats with more space and all cabins have ensuite bathrooms. It is the perfect size to get into most marinas.”
When we asked why Fred has been such a strong supporter of Princess Yachts for the past 18 years he explained that all of the boats have great seakeeping qualities and all built to very high standard with pleasing designs. He added that the shipyard never fails to surprise him with new engineering improvements and design innovations for each new model produced. And over the years he has made many good friends in the factory and within Boat Lagoon dealership.
Fred has enjoyed many special moments on board his various Princess yachts but after taking delivery of the Y78 in December 2021 he was able to celebrate three special occasions on board during the delivery trip from Singapore to Phuket. Christmas, his birthday and New Year.
During the trip he celebrated his birthday off Pulau Pangkor in Malaysia and Christmas day in Ko Lipe, Thailand. The New Year was spent in quarantine prior to entering Boat Lagoon and he said it was a brilliant time with a plentiful supply of local food and great wine sent over by Boat Lagoon Yachting. Nothing to do except watching the sun go down in the evening and rise in the morning! Perfect
