Princess Design Studio created the Y72 in collaboration with Olesinski, renowned naval architects, and the Italian designer Pininfarina. Aside from its impressive exterior design and grandeur, one immediately notices the attention to detail on smaller elements such as furnishings, lighting, and decor.
At an overall length of 22.8 metres and a beam of 5.45 metres, the Y72 is the smallest in Princess Yachts’ Y Class; however, its expert design and layout give it a large and commanding feel. Each area of the yacht makes superb use of available space while maximising storage areas, all without compromising luxury. In total, the Y72 can sleep eight guests.
The new Y72 joins Boat Lagoon Yachting’s fleet of luxury yachts and superyachts and is available now in Thailand.
Experience the Y72
The first thing you notice as you step foot onto the back deck of the Princess Y72 is the massive hi-lo bathing platform. The platform itself can lift over 500kg, making it suitable for lifting a tender from the water and storing it on board. If the platform is in use, guests can still easily manoeuvre around the stern and access the rear storage area.
Up the teak wood stairs, you’ll land on the main deck’s rear seating area, which includes a wraparound couch covered by a two-tone, stainless steel-trimmed headline. These subtle features are found throughout the Y72 and give it an extra air of luxury and style.
The rear seating area connects to the interior main deck through a grand sliding glass door. Immediately to the left upon entering the main deck is an aft galley, replete with a full-height refrigerator/freezer, oven, range top, and other kitchen amenities. Additionally, the galley’s rear lift window opens upwards to act as a serving hatch to allow the quick passage of food and beverages to the rear seating area.
The interior main deck, with its massive side windows that allow daylight to shine through, is home to both dining and seating areas, as well as a bar and the helm. Perspective is everything in the Y72. Depending on where you are looking from, the interior main deck takes on a different profile. It is a cosy living space with a hideaway TV while also being the centre of entertainment thanks to the bar and lounge area. Owners will appreciate the numerous hidden storage areas between furniture and in the side walls.
As you approach the bow from the interior cabin, you’ll notice two sets of stairs. Straight ahead, you’ll descend to the guest cabin area. To the left and right are two smaller guest cabins, each with two single beds which can join together to form a double, if preferred. The two small guest cabins share a full bathroom which includes a rain shower; of which there is direct access from only one of the guest cabins.
Towards the bow is the VIP guest cabin, complete with a full en suite bathroom, day seating area, and a large TV. Natural light from the port and starboard windows illuminates the room and gives guests tremendous views while out at sea.
The master cabin is located down the other set of stairs, which spiral under the main deck. The master suite is under the interior deck, meaning it has huge side windows and plenty of space for lounging privately during the daytime or for getting ready at the vanity. Behind the full-size bed is an en suite bathroom with his and hers sinks and a sizable rain shower.
Back up the stairs to the main deck, you can choose to walk up to the flybridge or around the exterior of the Y72 to the bow. The bow houses yet another seating area and a giant sun pad. Elsewhere on the bow are large wet-locker storage areas and the yacht’s mooring and anchor gear.
Finally, atop the yacht on the flybridge, you’ll find a comfortable and relaxing lounge area. Daybeds, couch seating, and a bar area make the flybridge the optimal place to relax during the day. Giving guests ultimate control of their surroundings is the slatted rooftop which can be remotely manipulated to allow sunlight to come through or to provide shade.
