Boat Lagoon Yachting showcased Princess Yachts flagships and Asian debut for Princess X80 luxury yacht along with first appearance in the region for Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1295 Fly at Singapore Yachting Festival
South East Asian lifestyle and buoyant Singapore market drive strong growth in yacht and boat sales
Boat Lagoon Yachting displayed a lineup of five luxury British Princess craft at the Singapore Yachting Festival 2024, along with day boats from premier French boatyard Jeanneau, reflecting a buoyant region that is demanding a greater selection of yachting and boating options.
The festival took place at Singapore Marina Sentosa Cove from 25th to 28th April, 2024, and proved a spectacular showcase for Boat Lagoon Yachting, which is sole authorised dealer in South East Asia for both Princess Yachts and Jeanneau.
Complete Showcase
Two Princess Yachts flagship models above 95ft made their debut at the show, the Princess X95 and Y95, along with the 82ft X80, while the popular F Class range was represented by the Princess F55 and F45.
This is the first time in Asia the two sister ships X95 and X80 were lying alongside each other, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to compare the two, and representing Princess Yachts as a leader in custom superyachts in the Asian market.
The display also featured day boats from Jeanneau, with the Merry Fisher 1295 Fly making her Asian debut at the show alongside the Cap Camarat 7.5 CC.
Vrit Yongsakul, managing director of Boat Lagoon Yachting, says that 2024 is especially important for the company, as it is celebrating 30 years in business. The dealership was founded in 1994 when it secured sole representation in South East Asia for the British shipyard Princess Yachts.
“We are very confident in the South East Asia market for luxury yachts in the 95ft category, as we have seen particularly high movement recently at the upper end of the market,” says Mr Yongsakul. “The Y95 is the perfect fit for superyachts in South East Asia, and the X95 and X80 are receiving a warm reception in the market.”
The Princess X95 made waves when it first debut in 2020. With her bold design, expansive forward superstructure, and impressive “super flybridge”, the X95 redefined the standard for motor yachts. Globally, it immediately became a success, selling over 30 units in just three years, and two- X95. Besides, with the same size three – Princess Y95 are sold by us and are now lying-in Southeast Asia.
Building on this triumph, Princess Yachts set out to replicate this winning formula with the more compact X80 model, which was also making her debut at the show, and in Asia.
“Notably, in the South East Asian region, we have already secured sales of two X95s, three Y95s, the one of those is the world premiere edition, and one X80, indicating strong demand and enthusiasm among buyers,” says Mr Yongsakul.
He adds that the 50ft range is also particularly sought-after, and is witnessing remarkable demand.
“Over the past three years alone, we have delivered over 11 F-class yachts!, including two F65s, two F62s,F45 and the six F55s . This surge in deliveries underscores the growing significance of the mid-range yacht market. Owners relish the luxurious experience of life aboard their yachts, indulging in the perfect blend of comfort and elegance.”
Singapore’s yachting business in general is vibrant and growing, fuelled by a combination of economic prosperity, lifestyle preferences, recreational interests, infrastructure development, and government support.
“Luxury yachts and the Singaporean lifestyle can be a perfect combination for those seeking an extravagant and culturally rich experience,” says Mr Yongsakul. “Singapore too is considered as the financial hub for the yachting business in this region.”
Day boats are part of this trend, reflecting the lifestyle possibilities and providing attractive leisure opportunities for families and friends in the waters around Singapore.
Jeanneau is very much tuned to this market, and is a popular choice in Singapore and elsewhere in the region. The Merry Fisher 1295 Fly is the new flagship of this long established line, designed to offer comfort whether cruising or at anchor, with multiple living spaces and three cabins providing plenty of flexibility for relaxation.
The Jeanneau Cap Camarat is also a popular range, and the new 7.5 CC Serie 2 delivers a sensational, sporty performance. With a clear view of the horizon, an ergonomic dashboard, a well-considered layout, a sunpad and much more, she is easy to drive and manoeuvre.
There is a growing interest in recreational boating and water-based activities among Singaporeans. Owning or chartering a yacht is seen as a status symbol and a way to enjoy leisure time in ultimate comfort and style. The allure of hosting events, parties, or simply cruising along Singapore’s picturesque coastline adds to the appeal.
Yachting provides an escape from the bustling city life, allowing individuals and families to unwind and connect with nature on the water. Additionally, Singapore’s strategic location in South East Asia makes it an ideal hub for exploring nearby cruising destinations.
Singapore boasts world-class marinas, yacht clubs, and support services tailored to the needs of yacht owners and enthusiasts. The country’s well-developed marine infrastructure, including state-of-the-art facilities for yacht maintenance, repair, and refitting, enhances the overall yachting experience and attracts both local and international yacht owners.
