The Story of Princess Yachts
In 1965, Princess Yachts was born in a small Plymouth industrial unit. Over nearly 50 years, it has developed into one of the most successful yacht builders in the world. Starting out with two people building a single boat, Princess now has over 2,000 craftspeople and produces 200-300 boats each year.
Princess crafts more than 80 per cent of their boats’ components onsite, giving them control over the quality of each element. It is no surprise that Princess yachts are renowned for their meticulous attention to detail, producing high-quality vessels that are beautiful both inside and out.

The dynamic team of interior designers at Princess Design in Plymouth are dedicated to helping customers customise their yachts’ interior and exterior styling. Rule-breaking design of the ‘Princess X class’ – X95 and X80 Exterior
Princess X95
Princess’ most recent development, the Princess X95, features an innovative new design that redefines what a luxury yacht is capable of. This complex project was developed in partnership with renowned Italian designer Pininfarina, and leading naval architect, Olesinski.
This unique design team refers to their groundbreaking new design as the luxury SUV of yachts. It has been developed with an open-plan modular interior that maximises space, providing a variety of customisable floor plan options.
This unique concept provides a flybridge and main deck interior space that cover almost the full length of the yacht. This Super Flybridge, the X Class’s defining characteristic, provides 10% more outdoor space and 40% more indoor space than a traditional motor yacht. This new yacht design takes Princess’ remarkable craftsmanship to the next level and sets the standard for further developments in yacht construction.
A Range of Impressive Vessels
Princess is well-known for the excellent craftsmanship and inspired interior design of their vessels. In addition to the X95 superyacht, a variety of smaller Princess vessels are astounding in their own right.
Princess X80
The beauty and design expertise present in the X95 are fully carried over into her sister ship, the Princess X80. This vessel also has a ‘super flybridge’ that provides 30% more space above deck for enjoying the seafaring experience.
This design incorporates ample natural light to illuminate the four en-suite cabins, saloon, galley, and forward dining area. There is also accommodation for three crew members. This spacious design provides a yachting experience unlike any other for a boat of its size.
Princess Y95
The Princess Y95 is the flagship of the Y Class range and is optimised for long-range cruises with inspired styling and a comfortable interior design. Its impressively spacious design provides berthing for up to ten people, and it can reach speeds of up to 24 knots.
Princess Y85
Following the announcement of Princess Yachts’ most technologically advanced and fastest-ever yacht, the revolutionary R35 performance sports yacht, record-breaking results and the most aggressive product launch plan in the 53-year history of the company, Princess reveals the all-new Y85, a further result of the collaboration with Pininfarina, aimed at redefining the Princess’ brand identity through a masterfully studied range of motor yachts.
The elegant Princess Y85 is an impressive sight to behold out on the water. Its expansive single-level main deck has a flexible galley arrangement with generous entertaining spaces. Three separate seating areas allow the crew to move seamlessly throughout the ship without disturbing guests.
As with the Princess Y95, this vessel was designed in collaboration with Pininfarina and Olesinski. Their design prioritises a stylistic grace that gives the Y85 a fluid contour, similar to a sports car. These flowing lines seen throughout the design not only add to the beauty of this vessel but maintain good aerodynamics for a smooth ride. The Y85’s exterior living spaces are replete with lavish detailing to accentuate these innovative structural lines.
The Y85 leads a new interior/exterior design language for the Y Class range. The exterior living spaces are richer than any previous Princess, with high levels of paintwork to seating and wet bars accentuating their form. Teak details give a soft tactile warmth both underfoot and to key touch points, such as the capping to the aft flybridge glass screens,” Said, Andy Lawrence Princess’s director of design
The interior design of the Princess Y85 is equally inspired. Intricate paintwork and teak detailing add richness and comfort to interior spaces. Three-metre windows provide ample natural light and allow guests to enjoy a breathtaking ocean view as they dine or recline in the saloon. Impeccable artistry defines every inch of this incredible vessel, from its outer shape to the smallest interior details.
Princess Y72
The new Princess Y72 joined the collection of award-winning Princess motor yachts when it was released in 2021. This yacht emulates the same brilliant design and high-quality craftsmanship as its sister yachts and catapults it into the future. The refined sophistication of this vessel makes it a pleasure to experience.
Like its larger sister vessels, the Y72 features spaces uniquely optimised to be aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. Full-length windows bathe the interior in natural light, and gorgeous satin-finished oak and walnut details outline luxurious furnishings. Princess S78
This expertly designed yacht features modular cockpit seating, convertible foredeck seating, and extensive windows to provide natural light to below-deck cabin areas. This S Class Sport motor boat makes clever use of space and offers a comfortable yachting experience ideal for sports enthusiasts. The sportsbridge offers a seating area and wet bar, equipped with waterproof speakers and optional lava brick barbecue.
Princess V55
The Princess V55 is an athletic vessel designed with intelligent use of space and impressive performance capabilities. This powerful sports yacht can reach a top speed of 37 knots, delivering an exciting cruising experience. With excellent visibility and smooth handling, this yacht can be easily manoeuvred in various sea conditions. Her overall design and naval architecture are also from the Olesinski Studio. Visibility from the helm is also excellent.
The cockpit features an L-shaped seating area with additional aft seating, a wet bar and electric barbecue, perfect for entertaining. The L-shaped seating area displays this yacht’s innovative design. It can be lengthened by a foldable chair on the end for a spacious seating area or minimised to provide mobility while underway. This design perfectly displays the prowess of the Pininfarina school of design and exemplifies Princess’ expert pairing of performance and functionality.
